A competition in Sacramento has two Chico State University seniors trying to squeeze time this semester to study, build a tiny home and run a club they started to get more students involved in the project.

Joe Dell’Osso and Blake Bergh are participating in a statewide college competition sponsored by the Sacramento Municipal Utility District to design and construct an off-grid tiny home.

The contest is to promote an interest among college students in energy conservation and efficiency, green building and solar technology, challenging student teams to design and build “net-zero, tiny solar houses,” according to the SMUD website.
