Community Development Director, Jennifer Pratt says as far as building codes and zoning, a tiny house community could actually be created in Cedar Rapids today.
The next step for the Tiny House Work Group is to find a developer and the finances to make it happen.
Members of the work group believe tiny houses would provide housing for a diverse group of people
“For those want a lesser carbon footprint, for those who are retiring, for those who say you know life is about experience not about stuff, I believe it fills a gap and provides an opportunity within our community for growth,” said Susie Weinacht, a Cedar Rapids City Council Member.
Weinacht formed the Tiny House Work Group in effort to bring the vision to life.
