“I didn’t like that I was living with my parents. I was trying to be an adult so I was looking for alternate ways to become independent,” said Burrows.

Unable to afford an apartment and student loans Burrows said the moment she stumbled across the tiny house movement she never looked back.

“The experience of building the house was more valuable than the house itself,” said Burrows.

But for many of these tiny homeowners it isn’t just about saving money, it’s about saving the environment, minimalism, and a refusal to indulge in unnecessary things.
